New Service: Presentation of MSCA Post-Doctoral Fellowships scheme at the level of institutes/clinics
The next call for Marie Sklodowska Curie Post-doctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) is now open with a deadline on September 11th, 2024. This funding scheme provides the easiest and lowest-threshold access to the European funding program „Horizon Europe“. These projects have a duration of 24 months (European Fellowships) and are beneficial  for both the fellow and the host organization. The Medical University Innsbruck supports applications of MSCA-PF by different measures.

Calls
Danubius Young Scientist Award
The Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) created the Danubius Award in 2011, with the intention to honour persons with extraordinary achievements in their scientific activity and output in relation to the Danube Region.
Target group: young scientists
Award Criteria:

  • Scientific excellence and innovative approach of the academic work
  • Thematic relevance of the scientific work for issues/problems of the Danube Region
  • Relevance of the scientific work beyond national borders
  • Potential of the candidate (for example: integration in international networks, participation in scientific projects, publication history, experience in teaching etc.)
  • No formal age limit – BUT limitation to participants that have received their Master/PhD max. 5 years ago (= after 1 January 2019)
  • Submissions of candidates holding only a bachelor degree will not be accepted

Euregio Young Researcher Award 2024
Target group: Young researchers up to 35 years of age (max: 16 August 1989) who are carrying out research on the topic “Artificial Intelligence in the European Region” and are either:
enrolled at universities, colleges, and research institutions in the European Region or
originally from the European Region and working at universities, colleges, and research institutions worldwide.

Euregio Science Fund 2024
Ten years after the start of this initiative, the Euregio Science Fund opens a new call for proposals in 2024.
Target group: The funding program is aimed at researchers from all disciplines from the regions of Trentino, South Tyrol, and Tyrol applying jointly for a research project.
The budget distribution among partners needs to be well balanced - The difference between the largest and the smallest project part may not exceed 10 percent of the total volume.
Deadline: 28 May 2024
Proposals must be submitted through elane the submission system of the FWF
Project duration: 24 to 36 months
Funding: € 300.000 up to a maximum of € 600.000 per application
Open for all research disciplines (bottom-up approach)
Consortia include one partner from each of the three Euregio regions

COST project submission training June 4th, 2024
We would like to draw your attention to the next online training for main applicants in COST as part of the FFG Academy, which will take place on 
04 June 2024 from 9:30 to 12:30 h
Q&A session until 13:00 h
The training content is relevant for both first-time main applicants and resubmitters.
The prerequisite for participation is a concrete project idea for a COST action. The training and the accompanying materials provide in-depth knowledge for preparing the COST application. In addition, the experiences from the last tenders will be taken into account. Best practice examples from funded COST campaigns, feedback from evaluators and exchanges with other submitters supplement the information.  
The presentation will be in German. Some of the slides are in English. Questions can be asked in German or English.

Austrian Bioinformatics Workshop 2024
The workshop will offer a number of keynote speakers, insightful talks selected from abstract submissions, workgroup discussions and social activity. We will also focus on research data management, national research infrastructure and facilities for life science data, including the new ELIXIR node Austria. The number of participants will be limited to about 150.

PhD program for Tyrolean universities

Submission period: 15 March 2024 – 01 July 2024
Funding amount: EUR 110,000 (max. 50% of the total amount is funded)
Scientific disciplines: Natural sciences and technical sciences with a specific connection to Tyrolean companies
Project duration: 24 – max. 36 months
Requirement: Employment of the doctoral candidate at least 50% over the entire duration of the project
Any missing funding should be provided by Tyrolean companies (Letter of Intent (LOI) of the company involved is necessary)
A maximum of 4 applications per university will be funded.

LBG OIS – Cancer Mission Lab Call 2024
The new funding initiative of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft is making a decisive contribution to the EU mission "Beating Cancer" and anchoring it in Austria. ERC Workprogramme 2024

Tyrolean co-financing for COMET projects
The call for COMET projects is open from April 16, 2024. The aim of the COMET projects is to carry out excellent research in collaboration between science and business. A total of around 10 million euros in federal funding is available. The FFG supports your high-quality research program, which must be open thematically but clearly defined. The maximum public funding (federal and state funding) is 45% with up to 0.675 million euros per year. The call is thematically open (bottom-up)
Deadline:  22 October 2024
Federal funding: max. 0,45 M €  p/a
Regional funding: max. 0,225 M € p/a
Funding intensity: 45% of project budget
Missing funding by companies (at least 45%) and inkind contribution of university (at least 5%)
