Certificate: Digital Teaching Competence

With the Certificate in Digital Teaching Competence, lecturers at the Medical University of Innsbruck expand their didactic skills for contemporary, digital teaching – practical, compact, and application‑oriented.

Blended learning formats and the digital tools used enable flexible participation in the certificate programme and allow participants to experience the methods taught first‑hand from the learner’s perspective.

  • Start: March 2026 / March 2027 / …
  • Language: Currently only available in German
  • 100 hours (4 ECTS) over two semesters
  • Compulsory modules on digital didactics, AI, tools, and legal aspects
  • Elective modules such as in‑depth workshops or lecture and exchange formats
  • Practical project developed directly from your own teaching
  • Focus on concrete impulses, peer exchange, and the sustainable development of your own teaching practice.

Target group

The certificate is aimed at current lecturers from all faculties at the Medical University of Innsbruckwho wish to develop their digital teaching skills (please note the selection criteria set out below).

Conditions of participation

  • Participation is to be agreed directly with the head of the organisational unit (OEL)
  • Participation takes place during working hours; there is no entitlement to additional work or overtime compensation
  • The Digital Teaching and Learning team covers the costs for the teaching staff

Selection criteria for participants

When allocating places, we base our decisions on the following criteria:

  • Teaching experience: Applicants should already be actively involved in teaching at MUI (Medical University of Innsbruck) or another university, or have been in the past.
  • Balance of disciplines and fields of teaching: To facilitate diverse exchange and reach as many areas of the university as possible, we aim for broad representation of different organizational units and disciplines. Therefore, areas that have not yet been represented will be given special consideration during the allocation process.
  • Basic didactic qualification: Completion of „Foundations of teaching in higher education“ („Start in die Lehre“) or an equivalent basic didactic qualification should be fulfilled.
